Oktoberfest is the world's largest Volksfest (folk festival), held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. It is a 16-to-18-day folk festival running from mid-or-late September to the first Sunday in October, with more than six million international and national visitors attending the event every year.
The festival features large quantities of Oktoberfest beer served in massive beer tents, along with traditional Bavarian food including roasted chicken, pork knuckle, sausages, pretzels, and more. The celebration also includes amusement rides, carnival games, and traditional music and dancing.
Located at the Theresienwiese (Theresa's Meadow), a large open area in the heart of Munich, the festival has been a beloved tradition since 1810. Visitors from all corners of the globe come together to enjoy Bavarian hospitality, don traditional lederhosen and dirndl, and raise a Maß (one-liter beer mug) in celebration.
